Welcome to Hidden Dunes Camel Safaris.
We are a family-run camel safari business based in the village of Barna in the Thar Desert near Jaisalmer.
Our family has lived in this region for many years, and we are fortunate to call this remarkable landscape our home. Through Hidden Dunes Camel Safaris, we enjoy sharing the desert, our camels, and a small part of our daily life with visitors from around the world.
Our Family
Hidden Dunes Camel Safaris is operated by our family from our village near Jaisalmer.
Our household of three generations includes Gemar Singh, his wife and their sons.
While different family members help in different ways, Nepal and Yogendar are the primary guides for many of our safaris, with Gemar also helping guide guests and support the business. Our many close neighbors help manage larger tour groups.
For us, the desert is not a destination. It is simply where we live.

Nepal
Nepal is one of the primary guides at Hidden Dunes Camel Safaris since 2022.
He helps organize safaris, care for the camels, and guide guests through the Thar Desert. He enjoys meeting visitors from different countries and sharing the landscapes and traditions of the region.
Yogendar
Yogendar is one of the primary guides at Hidden Dunes Camel Safaris since 2023.
He helps lead safaris and introduce guests to life in the desert. Whether preparing for a journey, caring for the camels, or spending time with guests around the evening fire, he plays an important role in the family business.

Gemar
Gemar was born and raised in the Thar Desert and comes from a long lineage of camel herders. For generations, his family has lived with camels and traveled through this landscape, and that knowledge has been passed down as part of everyday life.
He is the father of Yogender and Nepal, and much of what they know about camels, desert travel, and the surrounding country comes from him. Gemar knows the dunes, villages, trails, weather, and rhythms of the desert through a lifetime of experience.
Since 2016, he has welcomed visitors into that world, sharing not only the beauty of the Thar, but something of the way of life that has grown out of it.
Our Camels
Our family cares for four camels of our own, each with its own personality and place in our daily lives.
When they are not taking part in safaris, our camels spend their time near the village and in the surrounding grazing areas.
For larger groups, we work with trusted camel owners and guides from our village so that guests can enjoy the same experience while keeping the operation personal and community-based.
We cherish our loyal camels and take their welfare seriously.

The Thar Desert
Life in the desert follows its own rhythm.
Our days revolve around family, animals, village life, and the changing seasons of the Thar Desert. Preparing food, caring for camels, welcoming guests, and spending time outdoors are all part of everyday life here.
We hope that visitors leave not only with memories of camel rides and desert landscapes, but also with a better understanding of the people who call this place home.
